ROHM and Kionix have teamed up to offer the RoKiX IoT prototyping and development platform that makes it easy to evaluate sensor hardware, develop and deploy algorithms, and configure IoT systems for quick prototyping and proof-of-concept studies. A variety of sensors are built in, from combo accel/gyro and accel/mag sensors to standalone accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and temperature sensors. Configurable low power modes minimize power consumption during standby, while expansion connectors make it possible to connect additional sensors such as heart rate and Hall effect sensors to meet application needs.
The sensors connect to Nordic’s nRF52840 SoC that incorporates a 64MHz ARM Cortex-M4F with efficient adaptive power management system and 2.4GHz multiprotocol radio with Bluetooth 5 support to ensure easy connectivity. The compact 42x67x22mm form factor can be worn on the wrist or surface mounted, and includes a rechargeable LiPo battery that delivers up to 12 hours of operation and more than 1 week of standby time. What’s more, all required software to immediately begin evaluation are available online.
